BASF, Cargill, and Novozymes Make Significant Advances in the Production Process of Bio-Based Acrylic Acid. BASF, Cargill and Novozymes announced today that they have taken a significant lead by combining their technology to produce acrylic acid from renewable raw materials for successful pilot-scale production of 3-hydroxypropionic acid (3-HP). For the feasibility of 3-HP, it is to acrylic acid, which consists of a renewable-based building block and a possible chemical precursor.
In August 2012, BASF, Cargill and Novozymes signed a joint agreement to develop a process for and on behalf of 100 percent biobased acrylic acid and renewable raw material conversion.
Teressa Szelest, Senior Vice President of BASF, announced that “The production of 3-HP and bio-based acrylic acid is also an important potential raw material for superabsorbent polymers, and these studies are scheduled to be completed by 2014.dissertation consulting fees
