Polyamide Produced from Palm Kernel Oil

Polyamide Made From Palm Kernel Oil. German specialty chemicals firm Evonik has announced the production of bio-based ω-amino lauric acid in a pilot-scale factory in Slovakia. The material can also be used to make polyamide 12 as an alternative to petroleum-derived laurine lactam.
The biotech manufacturing process begins with palm kernel oil, which contains large amounts of lauric acid.
There is strong demand for bio-based polymers in Europe and around the world, with the Nova Institute in Germany saying in its report that production is strongest in Asia and the USA.
