Minister Çelik said: “You can go to the doctor and get a prescription. Therefore, unfortunately, we have such a disease. 'Somehow I found the doctor. There is no problem in accessing a doctor or doctor, so there is an approach like 'let's get the medicine prescribed' or 'let's take the medicine away' unfortunately. That's why we say; 'Using medicine with care'. Why would you take the medicine unless you need it? The drug is taken for the treatment of a disease. But if you take the medicine when you don't need it, you will cause a new disease. You will confront yourself with a new health problem. In a study we conducted with universities, we found that 26% of drugs were kept in the refrigerator. You see, these should not be hidden. While it should be kept at a certain temperature, not in the cupboard, the citizen took a lot of medicine and put it in the refrigerator. You look at the expiration dates, the date is not taken into account. The use of expired drugs creates other problems. There are thousands of problems like this. But most importantly; One of the problems caused by not using this rational medicine is to put it in the closet wrong, and then look at it; outdated. Then he throws it away.”

There is a medicinal product here, which you throw in the regular trash, which is extremely harmful for the environment. In other words, the drug issue is extremely important both for the human body and for the public and environmental health. Citizens should not be arbitrary, they should consult with their doctor if needed and comply with what dose and how much medicine they need to take. Otherwise, they will not contribute to the country's economy, their own health, or the environment by collecting medicines in the refrigerator at home and throwing them away later. That's why our studies and data on this issue are very seriously in the Social Security Institution (SGK). in the same way, we continue to work extensively with our universities on the development of social awareness. Currently, Marmara University and SGK are working to inform the public in detail about rational drug use.”

“PHARMACIES WILL NOT ENTER MARKETS”

Pointing out that the drugs thrown into the garbage also cause serious costs, Minister Çelik said, “If 8 or 2 of every 3 drugs go to waste, and they should not go to the trash. Financial loss. Harm to the citizen, harm to the environment. Our drug expenditure in 2012 is 16 billion TL, our drug expenditure is now. Seriously, financial resources are unfortunately wasted because rational drugs are not used.” he said.

Minister Faruk Celik also answered the question of whether pharmacies will open to large markets. Minister Çelik said, “There is no such thing. Currently, we continue to provide pharmaceutical services in our 24 thousand pharmacies.”
