The Chemical Industry Continues to Carry Our Country.

The Chemical Industry Continues to Carry Our Country. The chemical industry, which supports Turkey's exports, reached 12 billion 972 million dollars in exports in the January-September period.
With an export of 1 billion 423 million dollars last month, chemistry became the sector with the highest exports after automotive and ready-made clothing. The effect of the internal turmoil in Egypt was shown in the decline of the sector to third place after the leadership in August. Egypt, the most important market for chemistry for a long time, fell 55 percent in September to sixth place. Iraq was the country to which the chemical industry exported the most in September. Iraq; United Arab Emirates, Germany, Spain, Russia, Egypt, Azerbaijan-Nakhchivan, Iran, Italy and Jordan followed. Especially the increase in the exports of the United Arab Emirates and Spain drew attention.

Murat Akyüz, Chairman of the Board of Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters' Association (İKMİB), stated that the internal turmoil and chaos in Egypt affected export performances and said:
“Egypt was one of the countries we exported the most to in the eight-month period of 2013. Although there was a slight decrease in August, Egypt was still in the first place. However, in the last month, the negative impact of the developments in Egypt reached a perceptible level in our exports. Our wish is that the troubles in neighboring countries will end as soon as possible.”
