Hot water from oil wells belonging to TPAO is used in agriculture. Harvest has started in the greenhouses prepared by evaluating the hot water extracted from the oil wells of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO).

Within the scope of the "Alternative source greenhouse production" project prepared by the Kahta District Governorate and the Food, Agriculture and Livestock Directorate, the hot water extracted from the oil drilling wells belonging to TPAO is used in the greenhouses.

The harvest of tomatoes planted in 7 greenhouses created within the scope of the project has started.

Provincial Director Adil Alan told reporters that alternative source greenhouses were created in the region.

Stating that the greenhouse was heated by the water coming out of the oil wells belonging to TPAO, Alan said:

“We bring the hot water that comes out of the wells with oil to the economy. Previously, this water was discharged back underground without being used. We provide heating of our greenhouse with the heat exchanger system we have established. This provides a saving of 65 to 70 percent in the greenhouse. Because what we need most in this season is warmth. We are really happy right now. We will harvest around 180 to 200 tons of tomatoes in the greenhouse we are in.”

Emphasizing that the Ministry provides grant support to such projects, Alan added that they expect investment projects in this direction from investors and farmers.
