Turkish Academician Elected to CERN Users Advisory Board. Member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), Assoc. Dr. Demirköz was elected to the European Nuclear Research Center (CERN) Users Advisory Board (ACCU). Dr. It has been reported that Bilge Demirköz has been elected to the CERN Users Advisory Board (ACCU) to represent the Middle East countries and their users.
After graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA with a full scholarship from physics, mathematics and music departments, Assoc. Dr. Demirköz's PhD in physics at Oxford University, said in the statement:
“Assoc. Dr. Demirköz also started working on the Atlas Project at CERN. Demirkoz carried the Athens Olympics torch in 2004. Demirköz was selected as a TED Fellow by TED (Technology Entertainment Design) in 2011 and Global Shapers by the WEF (World Economic Forum) Istanbul Center for his contributions to physics and science communication, and received the Ten Young Outstanding Persons (TOYP) award from JCI Turkey in 2012. Demirköz, who was deemed worthy of awards by many national and international organizations, worked at NASA for 2 years.”

The CERN Users Advisory Board convenes 4 times a year and advises CERN's Director General on practical steps that can be taken to make research activities more comfortable and internal administrative arrangements.
