The Regulation on Transfer to Universities is Changing. With an article added to the regulation on September 21, 2013, the signal for permanent changes to be made in the field of lateral transfer was given, and the way for newly placed students to transfer to the university was opened within 1 month at the latest from the beginning of the academic year. The changes that will come with the new regulation, which is expected to be published in the Picture Newspaper in the coming weeks, are as follows:

With the amendment made in the 11th paragraph of the 10th article of the regulation, the courses taken and successful in the previous diploma program will be adjusted and the previous grades of these courses will be added to the transcript.

FROM PREPARATION CLASS

According to the amendment made in the Annex-1 Article of the regulation, if the student's central placement score in the year he/she registered is equal to or higher than the base score of the diploma program he/she wishes to pass, the student will be able to apply for lateral transfer, including the preparatory class. The application calendar for lateral transfer, the principles regarding student quotas and the procedures and principles regarding lateral transfers will be determined by the Higher Education Executive Board. Students' applications will be evaluated by the boards and horizontal transfers will be accepted. In cases where the application is more than the quota, lateral transfer of the candidate as much as the quota will be accepted by starting from the candidate with the highest ÖSYS score and ranking. Candidates who were placed in the university with the 2014 ÖSYS will be able to transfer to another department from the very beginning (including the preparatory class), if they meet the base score requirement.

'DOUBLE MAJOR' IS OPENING

According to the amendment made in the second paragraph of Article 17 of the Regulation:

– It will not be possible to do a double major with Engineering, Medicine, Health Sciences and Law programs. E.g; A student studying business administration is not allowed to do a double major with one of the engineering majors.

– The way for double major programs has been paved for programs other than Engineering, Medicine, Health Sciences and Law. There is also a clear lower limit on quotas. The double major quota to be determined by the Senate will be at least 20% of the relevant program quota.

– In the new regulation, paragraph 17 of Article 10 of the regulation is repealed. In the past, universities could introduce new conditions in addition to those specified in the regulation on double major programs and increase the minimum achievement grades stipulated by the Senate's decision. Thus, universities that do not favor the double major application will be prevented from making strict senate decisions compelling students.
