22nd International Congress of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine Held

22nd International Congress of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine was held. The 22nd International Congress of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC-WorldLab2014) was held in Istanbul Congress Center with 116 participants from 5133 countries.

According to the statement made by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Near East University, the Presidency of the Near East University, Faculty of Medicine, Medical Biochemistry Department Head Prof. Dr. Nazmi Özer's opening speech of the Congress, continuing his studies at Harvard University, Prof. Dr. Gökhan Hotamışlıgil on "Immunometabolism of Obesity and Diabetes".

During the Congress, the participants had the chance to listen to the general conferences given by invaluable scientists; From the University of Minnesota, Prof. Dr. Kamil Uğurbil “Imaging of brain functions and connections with ultra high field magnetic resonance”; From the Swedish Karolinska Institute, the former chairman of the Nobel Committee Prof. Dr. Göran Hansson “Inflammation, immunity and atherosclerosis”; Professor at Imperial College London. Dr. Mustafa Djamgoz “Ion channel expression in cancer: From laboratory to clinic” and Prof. from Hong Kong Chinese University. Dr. Dennis Lo gave their speech on “Elumination of the plasma genome: prenatal diagnosis and applications in cancer”.
In the congress attended by faculty members from the Near East University Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Health Sciences, as well as Term I students of the Faculty of Medicine; In the symposiums covering a wide spectrum of topics in the field of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine and held simultaneously in eight different halls, the latest on hemostasiology, vascular markers, autoimmunity, neurodegenerative diseases and epigenetics as well as patient-oriented laboratory medicine, point-of-care tests, ISO 15189, personalized medicine. technological developments are discussed. In addition, current laboratory practices on obesity, infectious diseases, bleeding and coagulation, immune deficiencies, tumor markers, bone metabolism and hematological diseases were also included.

The poster presentations, which are an integral part of the congresses, were held for three days with the presentation of 1552 posters. For the first time in IFCC history, 8 sister federations also contributed to the Congress by organizing their own symposiums. These federations; American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC), Arab Federation of Clinical Biology (AFCB), African Federation of Clinical Chemistry (AFCC), Asia-Pacific Federation of Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (APFCB), Balkan Clinical Laboratory Federation (BCLF), Latin American Confederation of Clinical Biochemistry (COLABIOCLI), the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM) and the World Association of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Societies (WASPaLM).
