Who is Morgan Freeman?

Morgan Freeman (born June 1, 1937) is an American actress, producer and voice actor. Freeman won the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award in 2005 for her Million Baby movie. Street Smart received an Academy nomination for her films, The Driver of Miss Daisy, The Cost of Bondage and The Invincible.

Freeman is known for his unique smooth, deep voice and skill in expression.

Morgan Freeman was born on June 1, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee. Barber was born to the son of Morgan Porterfield Freeman and teacher Mayme Edna. Freeman has three older siblings. According to DNA tests, some of their ancestors are from Niger.

When Freeman was nine years old, he began his acting career by starring in a game at school. At the age of 12, he won a state-wide drama competition. He graduated from Broad Street High School in 1955 but opted to join the United States Air Force by refusing a partial drama scholarship from Jackson State University.

He moved to Los Angeles, California four years after the army. In the early 1960s, he took acting classes at Pasadena Playhouse and dance classes in San Francisco, where he also lived in New York and worked as a dancer at the 1964 World's Fair.
