Sırrı Süreyya Önder (July 7, 1962, Adıyaman), Turkish filmmaker, writer and politician, 24th Term Istanbul MP, 25th Term and 26th Term Ankara Deputy.
He worked as a scriptwriter, director, movie actress, music producer and columnist in the national press. In the 2011 general elections he participated in the ranks of the Labor, Democracy and Freedom Bloc (independents supported by the BDP), Istanbul was elected as a deputy from the 2nd region. He became the HDP's candidate for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality presidency in the 2014 local elections, but he did not win. In the June 2015 general elections and November 2015 general elections he participated in the ranks of the HDP, Ankara was elected as a deputy from the 1st region.
Sırrı Süreyya Önder was born in 1962 in the central district of Adıyaman, in a family he referred to as assimilated Turkmen. Years of education and political life
Önder, who was arrested and imprisoned for protesting the Maraş Massacre when he was two high school students at Adıyaman High School in 1978, won Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, which was his first choice in the university exam, and went to Ankara after his release. He was in Ankara when the September 12 coup took place. He went to jail in his first round of arrest. After a lengthy trial, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Önder, who was hiding in a shanty house in the Altındağ district of Ankara when he started to be searched with posters, was caught after a friend, whom he had been tortured with in the past years, reported his hiding place and was kept in a place called DAL for 105 days. His conviction ended after 105 days of detention. He spent seven years in various prisons as a result of the burning of his executions due to protests and actions such as hunger strikes.
Önder had his first directorial experience in the movie called Beynelmilel, shot by BKM Film and written by himself. The movie, which he co-directed with Muharrem Gülmez, was shot in 2006 and released in January 2007. In the film, the effects of martial law after September 12, 1980 on the local people and the musician class (gevende) are explained in a tragicomic way. In 2012, he became one of the directors of F Type Film.
